This Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip is a sweet cream cheese dip that is loaded with balls of egg-free cookie dough. Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or pretzel crisps.
There is something about a good dip that I just can’t get enough of. And while I definitely love a savory dip, sometimes you need a good sweet dip! Perfect for get togethers or company, or even for game night with the family! Some of my favorite sweet dips are Peanut Butter and Jelly Dip, Red Velvet Cheese Ball, and Lemon Cream Cheese Fruit Dip.
I always love an easy dessert. Or a sweet appetizer. Especially when it comes together quickly.
You could easily make this for dessert tonight, and I’m betting that you might even have all of the ingredients on hand. And if you’re looking for something to serve to a crowd, you will be the hit of the party if you bring this dip along!
Now, the base of this dip is nothing new. Sweet cookie dough dips have been around for a long time. And I’ve had my fair share of them. But every time I make them, or eat them when someone else makes them, I always question one thing. I’ve never really understood why it is called cookie dough dip. Because really, the dip by itself doesn’t really taste like cookie dough. Don’t get me wrong – I love the stuff, but the name just never really made sense to me.
So I decided to remedy that. And turn it into an actual Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip by adding in pieces of egg-free cookie dough.
Yeah. I should have done this a long time ago.
If you are a cookie dough lover, and let’s face it – who isn’t? – you won’t be able to keep your hands out of this. But don’t take my word for it – try it out and you’ll see I’m right. 😉
How to Make The Cookie Dough
This dip is super, super simple – it just takes a little bit of time to make the cookie dough balls.
1: Start by making the cookie dough balls. In a mixer or large bowl, combine softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar. Cream together until smooth.
2: Add the vanilla and mix.
3: The flour goes in next.
4: The mixture at this point may look sandy or clumpy. This is normal.
5: Add the milk.
6: Mix until it starts to come together. It should be looking more like cookie dough at this point.
7: Add the chocolate chips – you want to make sure to use mini chocolate chips because the cookie dough balls will be small.
8: Mix one last time to bring it all together.
9: Once the dough is done, you’ll roll it into small balls – 1/2 teaspoon each. I just use a 1/2 teaspoon measuring spoon and use a small spatula to get it out. Then I roll it into balls with my hands. Place them all on a baking sheet that will fit in your freezer. You want them all in one layer.
10: Once they are all rolled, place the baking sheet in the freezer while you make the dip. This is so that they are easier to mix into the dip. If you don’t freeze them, they may fall apart as you try to mix them in.
How to Make the Dip
- Place the softened cream cheese and softened butter in a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer.
- Cream these together until they are smooth. You don’t have to use a mixer (either stand mixer or hand mixer) but it does help to make the dip smooth.
- Add in the powdered sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- Mix in the remaining 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips.
- Take the cookie dough balls from the freezer and gently stir them in. If desired, you can save a few to place on top.
Can You Eat Raw Cookie Dough? Can You Eat Raw Flour?
You are usually warned against eating raw cookie dough because it contains both raw eggs and raw flour, both of which have the potential to make you sick. Raw eggs can contain salmonella, and raw flour can contain e coli.
This cookie dough is made without eggs, so that is not a concern with this recipe.
As for the flour, you can heat the flour, which will kill any harmful bacteria.
There are two ways I would suggest to do this. The first is to microwave the flour. Just place the flour in a bowl and microwave it for about a minute. The other option is to bake it on a baking sheet in a 350ºF oven for 5-6 minutes. Just watch the flour and stir it as needed to avoid burning it.

There is no way I would be able to stop eating this dip. Especially with the pretzel crisps! Holy yum girl! I’m sad we didn’t really get much time to chat much at BlogHer. How fun would it be to just have a girl blogger weekend without the conference stuff!
