Say hello to your new favorite pizza recipe!
We’ve been having a lot of burgers lately, and pizza is always on the menu. So why not combine the two?
This is such a fun pizza idea. It’s great for when you’re wanting to switch up pizza night. And the flavors are so bold and delicious – this one will really leave you saying “wow”!
Ingredients
- Sauce: We’ll make an easy burger sauce from ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and paprika.
- Ground Beef: I like to use a lower fat ground beef, just because you don’t want a lot of grease.
- Seasoned Salt: I keep things simple and just use seasoned salt to season the beef. Feel free to add in some garlic powder or onion powder.
- Pizza Dough: Most of my pizza recipes will call for 1 pound of pizza dough. This is mostly because if you are buying pizza dough, it is usually in a 1 pound ball. But I always make my dough, (my pizza dough recipe is the best!!). And I like my pizza a little thinner, so I like to use 12 ounces of dough.
- Cheese: Freshly grated cheese is the best. I like to use colby jack, but you could use just cheddar, or even mozzarella would be delicious.
- Toppings: I like to use diced onion, diced tomatoes, and pickles.
How to Make Cheeseburger Pizza
1: Make the sauce by stirring the ingredients together.
2: Cook the ground beef and season with the seasoned salt.
3: Stretch or roll your dough out. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of the burger sauce and spread the remaining sauce over the top of the dough.
4: Add half of the cheese to the top of the sauce.
5: Sprinkle the ground beef evenly over the top.
6: Add the rest of the cheese.
7: Top with your toppings. Transfer the pizza to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.
8: Remove from the oven and drizzle with the remaining burger sauce.
Tips and Tricks
For all of my pizza making tips, see my pizza dough post.
If your ground beef has a higher fat content, make sure you drain off any excess fat before adding it to the pizza.
I like to add my toppings, (onions, tomatoes, and pickles), to the pizza before baking. They don’t get completely soft but I like them warm. I did have one of my boys that did not care for the hot pickles, so you can definitely add the toppings after you bake the pizza.
Experiment with additional toppings: Don’t be afraid to get creative with your cheeseburger pizza. Add bacon, caramelized onions, or shredded lettuce.
Let it rest before slicing: Allow your cheeseburger pizza to rest for a few minutes before slicing. This helps the cheese and toppings settle, making it easier to cut and preventing the toppings from sliding off.

Cheeseburger Pizza
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2 1/2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 3/4 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1 pound pizza dough*
- 2 cups grated Colby Jack cheese
- 1/3 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced tomato
- 1/2 cup pickle slices
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450ºF. (If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven and preheat for at least 30 minutes.)
- In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and paprika.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it up as it cooks, until it is almost cooked through. Season with the seasoned salt and continue to cook until no pink remains.
- Stretch or roll the pizza dough out into a 12” circle. Spread all but about 2 tablespoons of the ketchup mixture over the crust to about 1-inch of the edges. Sprinkle half of the cheese, then top with the cooked ground beef. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
- Add the onions and tomatoes over the top, then layer on the pickles.
- Transfer the pizza to the oven and bake until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted, about 10 to 12 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of the sauce over the top of the pizza.
