A fun (and delicious!) appetizer, this Fried Ravioli is easy because it starts with frozen ravioli. It’s perfect for game day or any kind of get-together.

This Fried Ravioli, also known as Toasted Ravioli, just may become your favorite appetizer!
I’m all about the appetizers, and you just can’t go wrong when it’s fried. Not to mention that this only takes a handful of ingredients, and they are actually done pretty quickly, too.
These Fried Ravioli are perfect for a party or for game night. They are great for any crowd!
Ingredients
- Flour: I used all-purpose flour.
- Eggs: The eggs will act as a binder to stick the breadcrumbs to the ravioli.
- Seasoned Bread Crumbs: If you only have regular bread crumbs, you can just add extra Italian seasoning.
- Parmesan Cheese: I like to use freshly grated parmesan. You want it grated pretty finely, though.
- Italian Seasoning: This just adds extra flavor. Even though the bread crumbs are already seasoned, this will really bring those flavors out.
- Ravioli: I used a frozen cheese ravioli. You could always use a meat or vegetable filled ravioli. I actually think these would be really good with refrigerated ravioli instead of frozen, but frozen was delicious, as well.
- Oil: You need a neutral oil, like vegetable, avocado, or canola.
- Marinara Sauce: This is optional, for dipping. You could make homemade marinara, or you could use store bought. We actually had some leftover pizza sauce and used that once, and it was so good!
How to Make Fried Ravioli
STEP 1: Place the flour in one bowl.
STEP 2: Add the eggs to a second bowl. Whisk them well.
STEP 3: In the third bowl, combine the bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning.
STEP 4: Working with one ravioli at a time, dip each in the flour. You just want a light coating, so shake off any excess.
STEP 5: Take the flour dipped ravioli and dip it in the egg. Make sure that it is completely coated with the eggs.
STEP 6: Then add the ravioli to the bread crumb mixture. I like to use my hands to press the bread crumbs in to make sure they stick well.
STEP 7: Transfer the ravioli to hot oil in a heavy pan. (I like to use my cast iron skillet.) Let them cook until they are golden brown. This should only take about a minute per side.
Tips and Tricks
- Make sure the ravioli is thawed before frying. They cook so quickly that they aren’t in the hot oil long enough to melt the filling.
- I like to sprinkle some coarse salt on the ravioli as soon as they come out of the oil.
- You can coat all of the ravioli before you start frying to make things a little easier. They cook so fast that it’s hard to go straight from dipping to frying.
- This recipe can easily be doubled for a crowd.
Change it Up
This is a pretty basic recipe. You can change the spices to match the filling if you are using a different ravioli. Add red pepper flakes or garlic powder or even paprika or even turn them into a Tex-Mex version with chili powder or cumin.
For extra crispy ravioli, use Panko bread crumbs.
You can also bake these or cook them in an air fryer, but in my opinion, they just aren’t as good. This is one of those recipes that I think you have to splurge on.
