Perfect Party Appetizer
If you’re looking for the perfect party appetizer, it’s going to be Spinach Artichoke Dip.
I don’t know what it is about this dip, but everyone always flocks to it. Super creamy and super cheesy, even spinach haters usually end up devouring more than their fair share.
There are so many versions of this dip out there, but I’ve tweaked this one until I came up with what I think is the best version – or at least my favorite version!! I also have a Slow Cooker Spinach Artichoke Dip that is perfect for entertaining, but I really, really do love this classic version.
How to Make It
- Start with your softened cream cheese in a large bowl.
- Add the sour cream and the mayonnaise.
- Mix until combined.
- Add the remaining ingredients – the mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, artichoke hearts, spinach, garlic, dijon mustard, and hot sauce. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Mix it all together.
- Spread it into a baking dish and bake until melted and bubbly.
Tips and Tricks
- For the creamiest dip, use freshly grated cheese instead of pre-shredded cheese.
- No need to leave the cream cheese out to soften! Stick it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds on high.
- Make sure the artichoke hearts are completely drained and chop them up. You want to make sure every bite has an artichoke!
- I like to use frozen spinach because it’s the easiest. You can use fresh spinach, but you’ll want to make sure to cook it, drain it, and chop it.
- If you do want to cut back on calories, low-cal or low-fat ingredients should work, but I wouldn’t suggest using fat-free.
- You can make this a day in advance, but don’t bake it until before you are ready to serve it.
- Store any leftovers in the refrigerator. Individual portions can be reheated in the microwave.

Can all or part of the sour cream be replaced with plain Greek yogurt?

I’ve been looking for a really good recipe for this ever since we had it in Boston several years ago. I’ve been making a version that I layer in with more cheese, chicken and no bake lasagna noodles to make an awesome lasagna I keep meaning to post too. I’ll use this one for dip from now on.
