BLT Dip
This dip is the perfect appetizer. Great for crowds, and also great for a quiet night at home. In fact, one of our favorite things to do is have an appetizer night, where it’s all appetizers for dinner!
If you are a BLT lover, you will love this. All of the flavors of the popular sandwich, cooked up into a delicious dip. This is one you need!
What is a BLT?
If you don’t know what a BLT is, it is a sandwich that has bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. It is a simple sandwich, and a very popular one, at that.
There is evidence that the combination has been around since the early 1900s, but the sandwich didn’t gain its popular name with the three initials until the 1970s.
We grew up on these sandwiches. It is the perfect dinner solution when you don’t really feel like cooking. We always kept it simple – white bread, mayonnaise, cooked bacon, sliced tomatoes (best in the summer when they are from the garden!) and lettuce. Sometimes we toast the bread, sometimes we don’t. Super simple, and super delicious.
How to Make BLT Dip
This BLT dip takes those same flavors and combines them in this hot dip that I can’t keep my chips out of. It’s as simple as cooking your bacon, combining a few ingredients, and baking until hot and bubbly.
The dip has a base of sour cream, mayonnaise and cream cheese. Sour cream, because all mayonnaise would make for a very greasy dip. And the flavor of mayonnaise is a lot stronger, so this cuts back on that a bit. Technically, you could leave the mayonnaise out, but it won’t taste as much like a BLT without it. It also uses cream cheese to keep things creamy and rich. I also add in a bit of cheese, because cheese just goes so perfectly in a hot dip.
Besides the base ingredients, all you need are your BL&T. I like to chop my bacon and then cook it, but you can cook it and then crumble it if you prefer.
Half of the tomato gets baked in the dip, the other half goes on top with some shredded lettuce. Serve this up on crackers or tortilla chips, and you’ll totally taste that BLT with your first bite.
I’m seriously addicted.

BLT Dip
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb bacon
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 oz cream cheese at room temperature
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 roma tomatoes seeds removed and diced
- Shredded lettuce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- While the oven is preheating, dice the bacon and then place in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook until the bacon is crisp, then remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel lined plate.
- In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream and cream cheese. Stir until combined. (There may still be a few lumps from the cream cheese – don’t worry about making it completely smooth.)
- Stir in the cheese, half of the tomatoes and the cooked bacon.
- Transfer the mixture to a 1-quart baking dish.
- Bake until warmed through and bubbling, about 20-25 minutes.
- Top the warm dip with shredded lettuce and the remaining tomatoes.
