I really chopped salads. Give me a big bowl filled with chopped vegetables like this every once in awhile, and I’m a happy girl. I had some leftover wonton wrappers, so I fried them up in strips and absolutely loved what they brought to this salad. In fact, there wasn’t anything about this salad that I didn’t like!
Ingredients
Wonton Strips: All you need for the wonton strips are wonton wrappers and oil. I will usually use vegetable oil or avocado oil. And since you aren’t frying very many, you just need enough for a small pan.
Dressing: The dressing consists of fresh lime juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame seeds, sesame oil, sugar, and salt. And then you’ll need a neutral oil to bring it all together. You could use vegetable oil, avocado oil, canola oil, or another neutral flavored oil.
Salad: For the salad, you need cabbage, romaine, green onions, mandarin oranges, red bell pepper, and sliced almonds. Feel free to use this as a guideline and sub in any of your personal favorite ingredients.
How to Make this Asian Chopped Salad
STEP 1: The wonton strips only take minutes to make! Heat about 1 inch of oil in a small pan or skillet. Cut the wonton wrappers into strips, and working in batches, add some of the strips to the hot oil.
STEP 2: Fry until golden brown, then transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain. Save these until needed.
STEP 3: Take all of your dressing ingredients and combine them in a jar with a tight fitting lid. Put the lid on and shake until everything is well combined.
STEP 4: Add all of your salad ingredients to a large bowl. I like to mix this in a really big bowl so that I don’t make a mess mixing everything together.
STEP 5: Take some tongs and mix it all together well.
STEP 6: Pour as much of the dressing over the salad as you’d like. I like to add some, toss it all together, and then go back and add more if needed. Serve the salad topped with the wonton wrappers.
Tips and Tricks
The salad dressing recipe makes quite a bit of dressing, so only add as much as you want to the salad. The remaining can be passed at the table.
Add in some cooked, shredded chicken to make this a hearty main dish.
This salad is best served right after making. If you need to make it ahead of time, just wait to add the dressing until right before you serve it.
You can save any leftovers, but they will start to get soggy. Store the wonton wrappers separately.

This is always a great salad. Usually I add a piece of chicken on top and it makes a great meal. I keep it in bags and add the dressing later and then I have a salad whenever I need it. Thanks for a good one and i like exclamation points, too!

Gosh, we have a lot in common!! I dislike meat on the bone (still), have to fix toilet paper rolls to “over” all the time, and freak out when mess starts to surround me (however I am NOT a neat and organized person).
I also love this salad. Looks amazing Deb!! I want some for lunch today!
