This Condensed Milk Toast is a delicious breakfast treat that comes together in only minutes. It’s best made with brioche or challah, but works well on regular sandwich bread, as well!
Sometimes I want something a little more complicated. Something that I can really get my hands in while in the kitchen. Something I can stir, or chop, or watch as it bubbles away on the stove.
And sometimes, I just need simple. Actually, most of the time these days, I just need simple. And it doesn’t get much simpler than this breakfast treat.
Not only is this simple, but it will totally revolutionize your morning toast routine. Three words:
Sweetened. Condensed. Milk.
Yep. For breakfast. Slathered on a thick slice of toasted brioche.
I actually don’t know where to buy brioche close to me, so I decided to make my own – just so that I could get the full effect of this recipe. And my bread got a little bit toasty brown on top. That is why it looks burnt in these photos, but believe me – it was absolutely delicious. And if you don’t have brioche, I tried it with regular bread as well, and it was also delicious. Maybe not quite as indulgent as the brioche, but then again, you probably shave off a ton of calories by using a slice of whole wheat bread instead of rich, buttery brioche. 🙂
So what are you waiting for? Get into the kitchen and give this a try!

I don’t know if I could do this for breakfast…but dessert? That would be so ideal. And dangerous, given how easy it is!

Yum!! Sounds delicious! We actually make a dessert with bread and condensed milk. Though very rich, it is incredibly delicious! Deep fried bread is soaked in a mixture of condensed milk and milk, infused with saffron and cardamom. Try it if you ever feel evil and want to indulge! You may easily substitute the cardamom and saffron with Vanilla!

When we were kids, if Mom made something that included sweetened condensed milk, she’d leave a little in the can and let us sop it up with bread. Yum!

I love putting condensed milk on my toast. I first discovered it when I was in 9th grade and I slept over a friends house. When we woke up, her mom made us breakfast and she gave us toast with some white jam looking thing. I gave it a try and I was in heaven! Best thing you could eat that can be made in 30 seconds.

Every 4th of July’s block party, my girlfriend’s mother would make a similar recipe. Bakery white loaf bread, soaked in condensed milk, then dropped in a plate of sweet coconut flakes and grilled on both sides until toasty golden. jude white BIG YUM!

Oh my goodness…I have to try this. I am not sure where to find Brioche either. We have a French bakery nearby – now I want to find some! Rachael did a bunch of different “recipes” with the new Sara Lee Pound Cake Slices yesterday and they sounded yummy like this does….
