Simplicity at its finest! Just a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of hands on time, this Honey Mustard Salmon is the perfect weeknight meal.
Serve this salmon up with some Lemon Broccoli or Roasted Asparagus for an easy, healthy dinner.
This is one of those no-brainer recipes – the ones that don’t require very much thought or energy. It’s perfect for a weeknight, or at the end of a really long day when you just want to get home and relax.
It seriously only takes a couple of minutes to throw it together, a few minutes of waiting time and then a few minutes of cook time.
And if you are like I used to be and are intimidated by cooking fish, don’t be. I now think it’s easier to make fish than it is to make chicken!
How to Make It
- SAUCE: Start by making the simple honey mustard from stirring together the honey, mustard, mayonnaise, garlic and dill. Pour this over your salmon.
- MARINATE: Cover the dish and refrigerate for 30 minutes – that’s all you need!
- BAKE: Bake the fish just until it’s done. This should take about 4-6 minutes per 1/2 in of thickness for your fillets.
Tips and Tricks
- The quality of your salmon will matter here. I live in land-locked Utah, so good salmon is harder to find. But when I’m making something as simple as this, I try to get a really good quality fish.
- You can make this with skin on salmon, but I prefer to take the skin off.
- I will often sub the regular mustard with Dijon mustard and it is a great substitution.
- DO NOT overcook your fish. The USDA recommends an internal temperature of 145ºF, but I like to take it out of the oven before it hits that temperature and let the residual heat continue to cook it.

I really love the easy and healthy combination of salmon, rice and a veg but am also frustrated about the quality of salmon that is available at the grocery. It is painful to pay upwards of $10/pound and find the fish itself lacking!

I am going to put some salmon in this marinade right now and steam it tonight for dinner! Will do potatoes with it though because I am a little challenged with cooking brown rice 🙂

That salmon sounds absolutely delicious! One of my favorite ways to jazz up brown rice is to saute an onion, first, then add the rice and cook it in chicken broth…this way it has some flavor!
