So when my husband declared that this was the best pizza he has ever had – I knew I had a winner.
I know many debate whether pineapple belongs on pizza or not, but one bite of this Hawaiian Pizza will have you convinced. This is the perfect use of sweet and savory.
You might just need to make 2, because this one disappears so fast!
Ingredients
- Bacon: I like to use a thick cut bacon, but if you have regular bacon on hand, that works.
- Ham: I like to actual slices of ham that I’ve cut into smaller pieces. But you can also use cubed ham, or even a thin cut ham. If you use a thinner cut, you just don’t want to let it dry out.
- Pizza Dough: I used my favorite pizza dough, but feel free to use store bought dough.
- Pizza Sauce: A good pizza sauce is important for this recipe. I use my homemade pizza sauce (that only takes 20 minutes!) but any quality sauce will work.
- Cheese: This pizza is nice and cheesy, with 8 oz of cheese. I like to use freshly grated because it melts the best.
- Pineapple: If you can, use a fresh pineapple. They have so much more flavor than canned pineapple. But canned can be used, you’ll just want to pat the pineapple dry with a paper towel because canned pineapple will be wetter.
- Parsley & Red Pepper Flakes: These are optional, but add some color, flavor, and heat!
How to Make Hawaiian Pizza
STEP 1: Cut the bacon into small strips and cook it in a hot skillet. Once it is crisp, transfer it to a paper towel lined plate. Remove all but about 1 tablespoon of the grease from the skillet.
STEP 2: To the hot skillet, add the ham. You just want to heat it through and brown it up and let it get some of that great bacon flavor. This will only take a few minutes.
STEP 3: Roll or stretch your dough out to a large circle, about 12 inches in diameter.
STEP 4: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the top of the dough. I used 1/3 cup of sauce, but you can use more or less, depending on your preference.
STEP 5: Next add your cheese on top of the pizza sauce.
STEP 6: Last goes on all of the other toppings. I like to layer them one at a time to make sure that they are evenly distributed. Pop the pizza into the oven and bake until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
Tips and Tricks
I like to use parchment paper when I’m making pizza because it makes it much easier to transfer the pizza to and from the oven.
I also like to bake my pizza on a pizza stone. They are fairly inexpensive and will last forever if you take good care of it.
You can use Canadian bacon instead of ham.
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator. Our favorite way to reheat cold pizza is in the air fryer, but you can also heat it in the oven or even on the stove top!
