And while most of my favorite Halloween foods are sweet, these Mummy Hot Dogs are a great savory option. And let’s face it – everyone loves them, especially the kids!
These fun hot dogs are perfect for lunch or dinner as Halloween rolls around, and not only are they delicious, but they are easy, too!
Ingredients
All you need are 3 ingredients!
Hot Dogs: I like to use all beef bun sized hot dogs.
Crescent Dough: You can use the crescent rolls or the crescent dough sheets. Either way, you want the original dough in an 8 oz can.
Edible Eyes: These are optional, but so fun! They are usually easy to find at grocery stores around Halloween, but you can also order them online. Yes, they are sugar, so I don’t recommend eating them with the hot dogs, but they do make them look more like mummies!
How to Make Mummy Hot Dogs
Remove the crescent dough from the can. Separate it into 4 rectangles – each rectangle will consist of 2 of the triangles.
Pinch the seams between those 2 triangles together.
Use a pizza cutter or a knife to cut each of the rectangles into 10 long strips. You want to cut them the long way.
Take each of the hot dogs and wrap them in 4 of the strips. You want it to look like mummy bandages, so they don’t need to be perfect!
Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake until the crescent roll dough is golden brown. Once you remove them from the oven, you can add the eyes, if desired.
Tips and Tricks
- These mummy hot dogs are best served straight from the oven, but can be put out on a holiday buffet. You will want them to be warm, though.
- The eyes are totally optional! If you don’t want to use the sugar eyes, you can make eyes with ketchup or mustard.
- If using the sugar eyes, you can use a dot of ketchup to keep them on.
- Serve the mummies with ketchup and mustard for dipping.
- Don’t want to use crescent dough? Pizza dough will work, as well!
