Great Asian flavors in a hurry – this Orange Teriyaki Beef with Noodles is not only fast, but full of flavor. Plus, it’s a kid friendly dinner that everyone will love!
I originally posted this recipe back on April 8, 2010. It is one of those recipes that has sat in the archives for years without being made again. Every once in awhile, I would come across it and say to myself that I needed to make it again, but it took me years to get back to it. Well, now I am completely obsessed. I can’t believe I haven’t been making this Orange Teriyaki Beef with Noodles regularly for the last 8 years!!
This recipe has a lot going for it. First of all, it’s fast. 30 minutes and you can have dinner on the table. Second, it only has a few ingredients. You may not always have orange marmalade or sugar snap peas on hand (which for some strange reason, I always have both), but these items can easily be picked up on your grocery trip. But a few simple ingredients, and dinner is ready. Third – which may be my favorite of all – this is a super family friendly meal. It is very rare that I make something that all three of my kids and my husband eat, but this was devoured. No leftovers at all. (Granted – Camden only wanted the noodles and not the beef, Easton only wanted the beef and not the noodles, and Abbi picked out all of her sugar snap peas…) But the fact that everyone in my family left with food in their belly is nothing short of a miracle. I’d call this a success!
What kind of beef should you use?
When it comes to the beef for a stir fry type recipe, you will want any tender cut of beef. I will usually just get what looks the best or is on sale that day. You could use sirloin, tri-tip, tenderloin, ribeye, or a strip steak. And while it is sometimes not as tender, I have used flank steak which works well in stir fry recipes.
What do you need to make Orange Teriyaki Beef with Noodles
While you could get away with using a nonstick skillet, I highly recommend a stainless steel skillet for this recipe. The beef will brown a lot easier in a stainless steel skillet versus a nonstick skillet. I have this Cuisinart skillet that I love for one pot meals like this one because the sides are so high.

Orange Teriyaki Beef with Noodles
Ingredients
- 1-2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1.25 lbs boneless beef sirloin trimmed
- Salt and pepper
- 14.5 oz can beef broth
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce*
- 1/4 cup orange marmalade
- Dash of cayenne pepper
- 5 oz angel hair pasta broken in half
- 1 1/2 cups sugar snap peas (about 5 oz)
Instructions
- Cut the beef into thin strips against the grain. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Place a 12-inch stainless steel skillet over high heat. Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, and when it shimmers, add half of the beef in one layer. Cook until the beef is browned on one side, then flip to cook the second side with a pair of tongs. You want the outsides of the beef to be browned, but for the beef to remain tender. Remove the beef to a plate. If needed, add the second teaspoon of vegetable oil to the pan and cook the second half of the beef. Remove the beef to the plate.
- Add the beef broth, teriyaki sauce, orange marmalade and dash of cayenne pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil. Add the pasta and the sugar snap peas and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to medium, cover the skillet, and cook until the pasta is tender, 5 to 7 minutes. (If needed, add up to 1/4 cup of water if your pasta is not tender and all of the liquid has been absorbed.)
- Stir the beef back into the skillet. Cook uncovered for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the sauce is slightly thickened.
