Ingredients
- Cream Cheese: Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature when you start to make it easy to incorporate.
- Mozzarella: I like to use freshly grated mozzarella, because it melts better.
- Sour Cream: The sour cream helps it to be extra creamy.
- Italian Seasoning: This gives the dip even more pizza flavor.
- Basil: If it is summertime, I’ll throw some fresh basil on top, but mixing some dried basil into the dip is great, as well!
- Pizza Sauce: I like to use my homemade pizza sauce, but a store bought sauce will work as well. Or if you are in a pinch, use marinara sauce.
- Pepperoni: I used a full sized pepperoni in the photos, but if you can find the mini pepperoni, it works even better in this dip. It’s easier to get some pepperoni with every bite. You can also dice your full sized pepperoni.
- Parmesan: I love the extra parmesan on the top, but feel free to leave this off if you don’t have it.
- Red Pepper Flakes: This is also optional, but I love the extra bit of heat.
How to Make Pepperoni Pizza Dip
I like to start by beating the cream cheese to make sure it is smooth and creamy. You can always just use a rubber spatula, but I like my hand mixer because it works quickly.
Add in about 3/4 of the mozzarella, the sour cream, Italian seasoning, and basil. Mix all of this together to combine.
To assemble, spread the cheese mixture in the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish.
Spread the pizza sauce over the cheese mixture.
Sprinkle on the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Top this with the pepperoni.
Last is the parmesan and the red pepper flakes. Time to bake it until it is golden and bubbling.
Change it Up
Is pepperoni not your favorite? Feel free to swap out the pepperoni for your favorite pizza toppings. Or add to the pepperoni. Some other favorites are mushrooms, peppers, and sausage.
Tips and Tricks
This dip can be made up to 24 hours in advance before baking it. Just assemble according to the directions and cover and refrigerate it before baking. When you are ready to bake it, I suggest letting it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before baking.
My favorite way to serve this is with toasted baguette slices. It’s also good with crackers, but the baguette is my favorite.
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
