This super simple 3 ingredient Pineapple Banana Smoothie, filled with a tropical punch of flavor, is perfect for whipping up for an easy breakfast or afternoon pick-me-up.
If you love a tropical smoothie, you also need to try this Tropical Smoothie!
I have always been a believer in moderation in all things. I will never give up dessert, or a good, decadent meal every now and again. But every day, I try pretty hard to keep things on the healthier side. And I try to teach my kids to make healthier choices, but it’s not always easy. Which is what led me to write my second cookbook, Best 100 Smoothies for Kids, which hit store shelves last week!
I’m not very good at tooting my own horn, so I hadn’t even made an official announcement of the book here on Taste and Tell. But this week – you’ll be hearing a lot about it!! To kick off the release of the book, we will be celebrating this week with 5 all new smoothie recipes. Plus, we are giving away a Blendtec blender, because when you’re talking smoothies, you want one of those bad boys on your counter!!
First, let’s talk smoothies – specifically this Pineapple Banana Smoothie. When I set out to write the book, one thing we wanted to do was to create 100 smoothies that don’t use any sort of added sugars. Because honestly, I’ve seen “smoothie” recipes out there with ice cream in them, or loads of sugar, and well – you can’t trick me into thinking those are good for you.
And a lot of smoothies that make servings that are 24 oz, and hundreds (some over 1000!) calories.
So my goal was to create a book full of smoothies that are not only free from added sugars, but that were manageable serving sizes, creating a smoothie that will help your diet, not hinder it, and to teach kids about a way to add a healthy smoothie to their day.
This is a super simple smoothie – only 3 ingredients – but it is packed with tropical flavors. Make sure that your pineapple juice is 100% pineapple juice without any added sugars. And this smoothie gets a little bit of creaminess from some Greek yogurt (which also adds a small dose of protein).
My kids went crazy for this smoothie, drinking it down in record time. But it’s not just for the kids – I fell in love with this one, as well!!
