I am all about making things easier in life. There are always to do lists and places to be. And sometimes, dinner doesn’t need to be complicated – just easy.
This is what I like to call a cheater recipe. You take a few prepackaged ingredients, a few minutes, and dinner is done and on the table. It’s not fancy or sophisticated, but it’s easy, it’s fast, and it’s something the whole family will love.
These BBQ Beef Biscuit Cups are your answer on those days when you just need easy.
What Ingredients are in BBQ Beef Biscuit Cups?
These BBQ Beef Biscuit Cups only take a few ingredients:
- Ground beef – I like to use a fairly lean ground beef so that I don’t have to drain the meat. Just know that if you don’t use a lean ground beef, you may need to drain some fat off before adding the barbecue sauce.
- Onions – I put these in right with the ground beef so that they get softened perfectly while the beef cooks.
- Barbecue Sauce – you can use any prepared bbq sauce for this recipe, but make sure that you use one you know you like. When there are so few ingredients, each ingredient tends to stand out more.
- Brown Sugar – you can leave this out if you want, but it just brings in a little bit of sweetness – not too much at all.
- Refrigerated Biscuits – for the biscuits, you’ll just want to make sure you get the large biscuits, and that there are 8 in the package.
- Shredded Cheddar Cheese – I love to use freshly grated cheddar, as I think that it melts better.
How to Make these BBQ Beef Biscuit Cups
- Start by browning the ground beef and onion at the same time. This gives the onion time to soften.
- Add the barbecue sauce and the brown sugar and cook it for another minute or two to make sure it is all combined and blended.
- Take your refrigerated biscuit dough and separate it into 8 biscuits. Slightly flatten them, then press them into a lightly greased muffin tin.
- Divide the ground beef mixture between the cups that you just formed. They might seem like very full, but it should all fit.
- Divide the cheese among the cups and sprinkle the cheese.
- Bake the cups until the biscuit is lightly browned.

Tools Used to Make These BBQ Beef Biscuit Cups
I like to use a nonstick muffin tin for this recipe. Then these biscuit cups should pop right out.
To cook the ground beef, I like to use either a nonstick skillet or a cast iron skillet.
BBQ Beef Biscuit Cups
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 1 16 oz can Grands Refrigerated Buttermilk or Flaky Biscuits
- 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 400ºF. Grease 8 muffin cups.
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef and the onion. Cook until the ground beef is browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Stir in the barbecue sauce and brown sugar; cook for an additional minute or two, then remove from the heat.
- Separate the biscuit dough into 8 biscuits. Flatten each biscuit slightly then press into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared muffin cups.
- Divide the beef mixture between each biscuit-lined cup. Sprinkle each with cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the biscuits are golden brown, about 10-12 minutes. Cool for 1 minute before removing from the muffin cups to serve.

had to leave out the onions due to my
allergy to them, but added garlic instead,
they were extremely tasty.
Anything a two year old who we have a
hard time getting to eat any other meat but
ham is great.. and these were great and
fast and delicious for lunch today too.

Pre packaged food is not all nasty and I think there is absolutely a place for it in busy lives!!! My favourite store cupboard saviour is flavoured tinned tomatoes, no nasties, no flavour compromise, no stress!!!
