This S’mores Cheese Ball is filled with all of the flavors of s’mores in a fun party dessert. Serve with graham crackers and watch it get devoured!
I love a good s’mores inspired treat! Skip the campfire and try these S’mores Muffins or these Indoor S’mores.
One of my most popular posts to date is the Red Velvet Cheese Ball that I made back in February.
And ever since I made it, the wheels in my brain have been turning with different flavor combinations that could be made just as easily. And now I’m only sad that it has taken me this long to actually try a different version.
Because really, this is one of the easiest recipes ever. No baking, (yay for summer!), and very little hands on time. I used my KitchenAid stand mixer, but you could seriously just mix this by hand.
The flavor combination that kept popping to the forefront of my mind was s’mores. S’mores are all the rage these days – and it’s understandable. What could be better than chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallow?
Ingredients
- Cream Cheese: I would suggest using full fat cream cheese. Reduced fat seems to be a bit softer and makes it so that the cheese ball won’t hold up as well.
- Butter: I like to use unsalted, but if you like a touch of saltiness with your sweet, salted butter would work just fine.
- Cake Mix: You’ll want a chocolate cake mix. I typically use devil’s food or milk chocolate, but any chocolate will work.
- Brown Sugar and Powdered Sugar: I like the mixture of both of these sugars to sweeten up the cheese ball.
- Mini Marshmallows: I just use regular mini marshmallows, but you could also use marshmallow bits.
- Graham Crackers: You’ll want some graham crackers to crush into crumbs, as well as more graham crackers for serving.
How to Make a S’mores Cheese Ball
Read the recipe card below for the full instructions.
- Beat the cream cheese and the butter together well.
- Add in the cake mix and both sugars and mix well. Stir in the marshmallows.
- Lay out a piece of plastic wrap, then scoop the mixture out.
- Wrap in the plastic wrap, forming a ball. Refrigerate this for at least 2 hours.
- Place the crushed graham crackers on a plate, then remove the cheese ball from the refrigerator and unwrap.
- Roll the ball in the crumbs to adhere the crumbs to the outside, then serve with more graham crackers.
Tips and Tricks
There is a small chance that the dry cake mix can contain harmful bacteria. If you are concerned about this, you can heat treat the mix before using. To do this, you can microwave the cake mix to 160ºF before using.
You can refrigerate this for as little as 2 hours, but I will usually make it the day before serving it.
I left the graham cracker crumbs pretty large, but you could make these as fine or as big as you’d like.
