These easy Sweet and Sour Meatball Skewers are made from frozen meatballs that are combined with fresh peppers and basted with an easy sweet and sour sauce.
Sweet and Sour is a favorite flavor combo around here. If you love it, as well, try these Sweet and Sour Meatballs or this Sweet and Sour Chicken.
These Sweet and Sour Meatball Skewers are so super simple and a great recipe to turn to when you don’t know what to have for dinner and you don’t want a lot of effort. Frozen meatballs and sweet peppers are threaded onto skewers and then basted with a simple 2-ingredient sweet and sour sauce. I love to keep frozen meatballs on hand just for recipes like this one!
Ingredients
Meatballs: You just need frozen meatballs that have been thawed. Easy as that! You can always use homemade meatballs, as well. You’ll just want to make sure that they are firm enough to hold when put on the skewer.
Peppers: I like to use a mix of red and green bell peppers, but really – any color will work!
Sauce: This is a super simple glaze made from apricot jam and barbecue sauce. You can always make your own sweet and sour sauce and use that, though!

How to Make Sweet and Sour Meatballs
PREP: Thread the meatballs and the peppers onto skewers, alternating them as you go. You should have enough to make 8 skewers unless they are bigger or smaller.
GRILL: Place the skewers on a grill that has been preheated to medium-high.
BASTE: Mix together the apricot jam and the barbecue sauce and baste the skewers as they are grilling. Once you turn the skewers, baste again.

i've had the ol' apricot jam/barbecue sauce combination on meatballs before, BUT they weren't on a stick. clearly, that would make them better. 🙂

These meatballs skewers seem to be perfect for dinner on a busy day! I love the flavors of sweet and sour dishes… but I am still struggling at making my own good recipe with these flavors/

Oooo, I like the skewer approach here. The sweet and sourness is unexpected … I was thinking bbq, and was very pleasantly surprised to see sweet and sour!
I'm all for fast, easy, and tasty! I've got three urchlings and their Fall schedules are starting to ramp up. I try to keep it sane by only allowing 1 activity per child … figures their energy level increases just as mine is decreasing! 🙂
PS: I keep meaning to mention that I like your new avatar photo. I liked the braids, too! 🙂
