You all know that I’m always down for a pizza night.
But what if you’re craving pizza. And you want it now.
We’re addicted to homemade pizza with homemade pizza dough, but it does take some time. And it’s not really something you’ll make for lunch.
But this Tortilla Pizza? You can make it in minutes, any time of day!
Easy to make for 1, 4, 8, or more – this is the perfect recipe for when you want something easy and delicious right now. And really, I feel kind of silly giving you a recipe for this, because it really is that simple, but I think we all need to be reminded of the really simple recipes every now and again!
Ingredients
- Tortillas: I use tortillas that are 8-inches, which are usually labeled as soft taco sized tortillas. You can really use any size you want – the quantities of the ingredients just might change.
- Pizza Sauce: I like to use my homemade pizza sauce, but you can definitely use store bought sauce, as well.
- Cheese: I like to use 2 kinds of cheese – mozzarella for the majority, plus a sprinkling of freshly grated parmesan over the top.
- Pepperoni: Each pizza will need about 1 ounce of pepperoni. Or feel free to leave the pepperoni off and make it a cheese pizza!
- Oregano: A little bit of dried oregano just gives the pizza a little something extra. You could also use Italian seasoning.
How to Make a Tortilla Pizza
STEP 1: Place the tortillas on a baking sheet. I like to line it with parchment paper to make cleanup really easy. Spread the pizza sauce over the tortilla.
STEP 2: Divide the cheese evenly between the tortillas. Each pizza will get about 1/2 cup of cheese.
STEP 3: Next, layer on the pepperoni.
STEP 4: Last, sprinkle on the parmesan, then the oregano. Bake the pizzas until the cheese is melted and the tortilla is crispy.
Tips and Tricks
This recipe is super easy to customize. You can change use ham instead of pepperoni, change up the cheese, or really use any toppings you’d like.
The amount of sauce in the recipe gives you a good amount of sauce per pizza. If you aren’t a huge sauce pan, you can cut that amount back.
These pizzas really are best made and eaten right away, but if you do have leftovers, store them in the refrigerator. You can reheat them in the oven or the air fryer.
Making Tortilla Pizza in an Air Fryer
Can you make a Tortilla Pizza in the air fryer?
Yes, you can.
But I will say that I do prefer the oven baked version, simply because the tortilla doesn’t get as crisp in the air fryer. But it is great for a super fast fix, since you don’t have to wait for the oven to preheat.
If you are wanting to make this in the air fryer, here are a couple of tips:
- You will “fry” the pizza at 400ºF for about 3-4 minutes. They cook fast!
- The pepperoni do tend to fly around the air fryer, so I’ll either just place them back on after baking, (be careful, because they are hot!), or I’ll put them under some of the cheese to try to anchor them.
- I will also take my hands and press the pepperoni down into the pizza a bit before transferring to the air fryer.
