A curry and chutney chicken is the star in these Chicken Curry Bites. This is an easy appetizer filled with flavor. They can be made ahead of time, which makes these the perfect appetizer!
I love anything curry! If you are a lover, as well, you also need to try this Coconut Curry Chicken or this Curried Butternut Squash Soup.
We are heading into the time of year when we need lots of appetizers, so it’s a great time to bring these little bites back into the spotlight!
These little wonton cups are filled with chicken with a kick. Curry paste and mango chutney give them tons of flavor. Great for game day or for a party, these Chicken Curry Bites need to be on your must-make list!
Ingredients
- Wonton Wrappers: These are fairly easy to find at the grocery store.
- Oil: I use vegetable, but any neutral oil will work.
- Chicken: I keep cooked, shredded chicken on hand to make recipes like this one a breeze. You can also use a rotisserie chicken.
- Yogurt: You want to use plain yogurt. I use Greek yogurt.
- Mango Chutney: This is fairly easy to find at most grocery stores in the Asian section. If you can’t find it, you can buy Mango Chutney online.
- Peanut Butter: If you have natural peanut butter, it is best.
- Lime Juice: This adds some moisture as well as lots of fresh flavor.
- Green Curry Paste: Again, you should be able to find this in the Asian section. If you are having a hard time finding it, you can also order Green Curry Paste online.
- Salt: Add this to taste to balance and bring out the flavors.
- Green Onions: The green onions not only bring some color, but they add freshness.
How to Make Chicken Curry Bites
To make the wonton cups: Cut the wonton wrappers into fourths, then brush oil on one side of the wrappers. Place the wrappers in a mini muffin pan with the oiled side up. Bake until they are crisp.
To make the filling: Combine the chicken, yogurt, chutney, peanut butter, lime juice, and curry paste in a bowl and stir to combine. Season to taste with salt.
To serve: When you are ready to serve, fill the wonton cups with the chicken mixture, then top with green onions.
Make Ahead Instructions
This is really easy to make the components ahead of time, then all you have to do is assemble the bites before serving!
- Make the wonton shells: Bake the wonton wrappers as written in the recipe. Once fully cooled, transfer the shells to an airtight container and store at room temperature.
- Mak the filling: Combine all of the filling ingredients and place in a container with a lid. Refrigerate until needed.
- To serve: When you are ready to serve, fill the cups. They can be assembled up to an hour in advance, but will need to stay refrigerated.
